Der gemeinsame Strategieprozess der mitteldeutschen Gebietskörperschaften startete im Herbst 2018. Neben dem Team der Metroplregion Mitteldeutschland waren unzählige Akteure aus Zivilgesellschaft, Wirtschaft, Politik und den Verwaltungen beteiligt. Die Basis bildeten insgesamt 22 Bedarfsuntersuchungen, Machbarkeitsanalysen und regionalwirtschaftliche Studien in fünf Handlungsfeldern. Daneben erhebt der Mitteldeutschland-Monitor jedes Jahr das Stimmungsbild bei den Menschen im Revier.
Im Ergebnis zeigt nun der REVIERKOMPASS die Strategie in prägnanter Form auf und verbindet sie mit den sozioökonomischen Rahmenbedingungen bis zum Jahr 2040.

Jede Menge. Denn in den beschriebenen Zukunftsfeldern ist die Wirtschaft am Standort Zeitz aktiv dabei oder hat dafür bestes Potenzial. Im Feld Wasserstoff/Grüne Gase mit dem länderübergreifenden Wasserstoffnetz etwa, in dem sowohl MIBRAG als auch der Zeitzer Unternehmensverbund der Südzucker AG Kooperatonspartner sind. Auf lokaler Ebene hat sich inzwischen das Netzwerk „H2-Hub-Burgenlandkreis“ gegründet, um einzelne Wasserstoffprojekte im Landkreis besser zu koordinieren. Nach der Wasserstoff-Strategie des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt wird die Entwicklung des Burgenlandkreises als Modellregion unterstützt.
In der Bioökonomie spielt „BioZ – Biobasierte Innovationen aus Zeitz und Mitteldeutschland“ eine zentrale Rolle. Einer der Treiber hier ist der Chemie- und Industriepark Zeitz. Im REVIERKOMPASS finden wir folgende Handlungsempfehlungen:
- Stärkung und Sicherung der Rohstoffbasis
- Aufbau von regionalen und länderübergreifenden Wertschöpfungsnetzen
- Entwicklung von regionalen Bioökonomiestrategien
- Inwertsetzung von Ökosystemdienstleistungen
- Flächenbereitstellung und -vorbereitung
- Aufbau von Produktionskapazitäten für nachhaltige Grundstoffe
Was die Industriekultur Mitteldeutschlands betrifft, hat die Region um Zeitz einiges zu bieten. Mit der gemeinsamen Vermarktung unter dem Label Recarbo Erlebnisregion sind der Mitteldeutsche Umwelt und Technikpark MUT mit dem Herrmannschacht gut aufgestellt und fest eingebunden.
Mit dem in Zeitz ansässigen Digitalisierungszentrum und dem städtischen Kooperationspartner dataport gäbe es vielleicht auch Partner mit besten Voraussetzungen, im Feld Cybersicherheit aktiv mitzuwirken (Anm. d. Red.).
